How much does it cost to place an ad? Top
    There is no charge to place an ad in TheFreeAd site, no matter where the location is.
How long does my ad stay posted on TheFreeAd site? Top
    All ads stay on the site for 60 days. Events stay posted until event date expired.
What happens to my ad when it expired? Top
    All expired ads will be removed from the site and we do not archive the data.
How do I repost an ad after it has expired? Top
    The only way to repost an ad after it has expired is by submitting the ad again using the steps outlined in �How do I post an ad?�
How often can I post? Top
    You can post as often as you like. However, you can only post the same ad once in a city in any 45-day period. In order to list the same ad for the second time, make sure to delete your previous ad or let the ad expire.
Why has my ad been deleted? Top
    Your ad may have expired. Ads are listed for 45 days. If the ad has been deleted within that time frame, it may be that it's a repeat ad or offensive or incorrect in some manner. Please contact our help desk if you still have questions.
Why is my ad still posted when I have removed it? Top
    Please allow a few minutes for an ad to be deleted, once you have removed it. You may also want to refresh your browser to make sure the ad has been deleted. If the ad persists more than 30 minutes, please contact our help desk.
How do I email the ad poster about the ad I saw? Top
  1. If the ad poster did not provide any email contact, then no email can be sent to the ad poster.
  2. If the ad poster chose to publish the email contact publicly, you can contact the ad poster using the email contact provided in the ad.
  3. If the ad poster chose not to publish the email contact publicly, you can contact the ad poster by clicking on the ad number (next to the reply-to) in the ad and complete the form provided.
How do I forward an ad I saw to my friend? Top
    There is a link at the top right-hand corner of the ad called �Email to a friend�. Click on the link and then complete all the required information in the form provided. Your friend will receive an email about the ad momentarily.
What can I do if I find an ad offensive, inappropriate, or it�s a spam? Top
    If you come across such ad, we encourage you report the ad to keep the site free from abuses. You can click on the link at the top right-hand corner of the ad called �Report a Bad Ad�. Please complete all the required information in the form provided and submit the information to us. Ads reported by users will be reviewed and then removed from the site if the ads violated the terms of the User Agreement. Before reporting a bad ad, please make sure your claim is valid and not that of a personal opinion.
What happens if I lose the email that contains a link to the ad I submitted? Top
    If you lose the email that contains link to the ad you submitted and you wish to edit or delete the ad, go to

  1. our Homepage and scroll to the bottom
  2. click Lost your ad link
  3. enter your ad number, the email account that you used when submitting the ad. You will receive a new email with the link after we validate your information.
What should I do if I have other questions? Top
    Scroll to the bottom of any web page in our site, click on Contact us and then complete the form provided. TheFreeAd team will attend to your questions promptly.
How do I post my ad? Top
  1. Click on the Place Ad icon
  2. Fill in your email address (This is required because you will receive a subscription email which allows you to edit or delete your ad later).
  3. Choose one of the three options you would like to receive a reply from other users
  4. Complete the rest of the form, especially the required fields
  5. Make sure you agree to our User Agreement
  6. Click Publish to complete your ad placement
  7. Your ad number and email address will appear on the subsequent page
  8. Write down the ad number and your email address (in case you do not receive a confirmation email from us)
  9. Your ad will appear momentarily
What should I do after I published my ad? Top
  1. Login to the email account that you used to submit the ad
  2. You will receive a confirmation email containing a link to the ad you just submitted
  3. Use the link to edit the ad, i.e. add/change/delete information, photo, etc.
  4. Click Update to validate the change
  5. Click Sign Out when you are done editing
  6. The changes you made will be updated instantaneously
Why don't I receive any confirmation email for my ad? Top
    If you haven't received your confirmation email or any replies to your ad, you may want to check your bulk/junk mail folder.
Why can't I see my ad? Top
    It may take several minutes for your ad to show up after you have published your ad through the confirmation email you received from us. Please do not submit the same listing more than once or your ad will be removed from the site. Please contact us if you still have questions.
How do I post my ad without revealing my email contact? Top
    When placing your ad, you can either choose �Hide my email address but use it as my reply-to� or �Full privacy. No email reply-to.� When you choose �hide your email address�, all users who are interested in your ad can only contact you through our reply form. They won't know your email address until you choose to provide your actual email contact. When you choose �full privacy�, other user will not be able to contact you through email. Please make sure your email address is not in the ad description section also.
How do I add photo to my ad? Top
    To add photo while placing an ad, scroll to the bottom of the ad form and press the Browse button and choose your photo. To add a photo after you have placed the ad, please read What should I do after I published my ad?
Why can't I add photo to my ad? Top
    Only ads in Autos, Real Estate and Merchandise are allowed to have photos.

Will I receive any email notification before my ad expires? Top
    Yes. We will send you an email notifying you that the ad is about to expire.
Can I renew my ad before it expires? Top
    Yes. When you receive the email notification for the ad soon to be expired, click on "Renew My Ad Now" immediately and it will automatically extend your ad another 45 days. However, if you click on it after the ad had expired, it will not be renew and you have to repost it again.
What should I do first before I submit my business profile to the directory? Top
    Before you submit, please review the User Agreement, the Business Directory Tip Bits and the remaining FAQ below. There are excellent information and tips on how you can maximize the use of our free directory services. Please feel free to contact us if you have any questions.
How do I add my business profile to the directory? Top
  1. Click on the Directory tab.
  2. Fill in all the required fields, especially the email required for confirmation (We will send you an email which you will need to confirm your submission).
  3. Fill in other information that you want to show on your business profile.
  4. Attach the file for your business logo file, if any.
  5. Attach the file for your business coupon or other promotion discount, if any.
  6. Make sure you agree to our User Agreement.
  7. Click Submit to complete your directory submission.
  8. Write down the auto-assign business directory number and your email address (in case you did not receive any confirmation email from us).
What if I can�t find the city or the state where I can submit my business profile? Top
    Our goal is to include all the major cities in the list and we will continue to add new cities and states. If your business is close to a major city that is in our list and it�s in the same state, please submit your business profile to that city. If your business is located in a major city and it is not in our list but you feel that it should be added, please write to us and we will review your request.
I submitted my business profile to the directory. What�s next? Top
  1. You will receive an email shortly after your submission (you may want to check your bulk/junk mail folder).
  2. You must confirm your submission within 5 days. If not, the data will be deleted.
  3. Click on the link that is in the email to confirm your submission.
  4. When the link redirects you to your business profile page, it means you have confirmed your submission.
  5. While at your business profile page, click the Sign Out button (This is important!)
  6. After you confirm your submission, an editor will manually review your business profile within 24-48 hours.
  7. You can click on the link to check on the status of your submission but please wait at least 24-48 hours.
How do I check the status of my submission? Top
    You can check the status by going to the link in the confirmation email that was sent to you. Your business profile page will indicate the status of your submission. We do not send you any email about the status of your submission. If the submission is approved, the profile page will show your business information has already been published in the directory. If the submission is not approved, the profile page will outline the reason why it is not approved and you will need to edit your business profile to comply with our User Agreement. Please also read business directory FAQ about the rules. After making the necessary change, please click the Update button. Your business profile will get review again within 24-48 hours.
My submission is approved. Can I make further changes to my business profile? Top
    Yes, you can. Click on the link in the confirmation email that we sent to you. At the profile page,

  1. Click Edit button to make the change.
  2. Click Update button to confirm.
  3. Your updated business profile will be temporarily de-listed and will subject to our review within 24-48 hours.
  4. Click the Sign Out button (This is important!) Once the changes you made are approved, your business profile will get published in the directory again. You can always check the status of your business profile by going to the link in the confirmation email.
Why do you have to review the profile every time when there is a change? Top
    Although this is a free service, maintaining the integrity of the site is still our top priority. We want every user to comply with the rules.
Why is my submission not approved? Top
    The business profile page will indicate the reason why your submission is not approved. Please review the User Agreement and the Business Directory FAQ again. If the submission is rejected because it is in the wrong category, please make the change in the profile page and submit for further review.
Are there any restrictions on submitting to the business directory? Top
    There are. Any submission that violates the terms of the User Agreement and the rules below will be rejected or removed from the directory. Please review our rules carefully. TheFreeAd also reserves the right to remove or delete any questionable business profile without giving any notice or reason.

    Here are the rules:

  1. Submission must not violate any terms in the User Agreement
  2. Use proper capitalization for those text fields that will appear on the business profile
  3. Do not capitalize every text on those fields
  4. Watch the field length. Field lengths are limited. Truncated titles or descriptions are not allowed
  5. Use proper spelling and grammar
  6. Business with adult or pornographic content is prohibited
  7. No work-at-home business such as home typing, envelope processing, data entry etc.
  8. No MLM or any get-rich-quick marketing business allowed
  9. Submission to multiple categories is not allowed
  10. Submission must have valid and verifiable U.S. street address
  11. Submission with P.O. Box address is not allowed

    The website link in the business profile CAN NOT have the following:

  12. No deep linking, referral url or sub-domain (Only top level domain is allowed)
  13. Redirect to an adult or pornographic site
  14. Direct or redirect visitors to another site
  15. Link to sites that is not in English
  16. Link to sites related to illegal activities
  17. Link to sites that are under construction
  18. Link to sites with purpose of collecting affiliate links
  19. Link to sites with popup windows and other technologies that interfere with viewing the main content of the site
  20. Link to sites that created only for displaying AdSense advertisements and other similar advertisements
  21. Any other link that is improper or just plain wrong

Are there any restrictions on my business logo attachment? Top
    Yes, as long as the business logo does not violate the terms of the User Agreement. The business logo can be:
  1. Company name
  2. Photo of business premise
  3. Screenshot of your webpage
  4. Any advertising materials that promote your business and have good representation about your business
Can I submit my business profile in other languages beside English? Top
    Unfortunately all submissions must be in English. Any non-English business profile will be rejected or be deleted from the directory.
My business is web-based and I don�t have a business address. Can I submit? Top
    Yes, but it still requires a valid and verifiable U.S. street address. We suggest the street address you used for your web-business tax return.
Can I use PO Box as my business address? Top
    No, business profile with PO Box address will be removed from the directory.
How do I submit my business profile if my business has multiple locations? Top
    Currently every submission only permits one business location. If your business has multiple locations, you can submit each business location separately as long as each street address is valid and verifiable.
Can I submit more than one category for my business? Top
    Try to submit your business under the most appropriate category, the one that really suits your business. If you submit more than one category for the same business with the same address, all the submissions will be rejected. If you have questions, please contact us before you submit any information.
How do I suggest a new category for the business directory? Top
    We welcome any suggestion from our user. If none of the category suits your business, please email us and we will make every effort to add new category to the directory.
How do I attach my business coupon to the listing? Top
    Please refer to My submission is approved. Can I make further changes to my business profile?

  1. When at your profile page, click on the Browse button for the Coupon Image.
  2. Go to where the coupon file is located and select the file (Please remember to enter the description for the coupon so that the coupon is searchable by other users, i.e. Pizza delivery Seattle discount buy 1 get 1 free)
  3. Click Update to confirm the change.
  4. Click Sign Out (This is important!)
  5. We will review the change in 24-48 hours.
Can I attach other promotional material to my business profile? Top
    Any promotional material that either offers special price reduction or coupon with discount should be attached to the coupon image field. This is the question you should ask yourself, �Am I offering a discount that is less than the everyday low price?� If the answer is �Yes�, you can use that document as your coupon. If you have other adverting materials but they are not qualified as coupon, you have the option to attach them as your business logo. Please read Are there any restrictions on my business logo attachment? The document you attached to the profile must be in one of these formats: jpg, gif, bmp or png (very important!).
Will my business profile expire? Top
    All approved business profiles will remain in the directory for one year. Before the end of each anniversary date, renewal email will be sent to the profile owner. The profile must be renewed before the anniversary date or it will be removed from the system.
